About me

Language has always fascinated me. As a child, I was already writing little stories in a notebook. My very first story, written in first grade, started with: “Jan en Pint gaan buut speew…” — which was meant to say: “Jan and Piet are going outside to play.” The spelling wasn’t quite there yet, but the love for language clearly was!

Later on, my passion for language grew beyond Dutch. In my twenties, I took several French and Spanish courses in Reims, Nice and Barcelona, choosing to stay with native-speaking host families so I could fully immerse myself in the language and culture.

During my studies in Corporate Communication — and later in my work as a communication advisor and educational publisher — language remained a key part of everything I did. Writing, explaining, making things clear: it never stopped fascinating me.

But what truly moves me is the role language plays in feeling at home. In connecting with others. In being able to express who you are. That’s why I decided to dedicate myself to helping others learn Dutch.

After completing my study at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam to become a certified NT2 teacher, I now teach at several language schools — and also offer private lessons at my home.

I absolutely love working with language and helping others on their learning journey. It’s wonderful to see people grow in their skills and confidence. Learning should be meaningful, but also enjoyable — or, as we say in Dutch: gezellig
